SSG Bradley Espinoza

SSG. Bradley Espinoza of Alton, Texas died on Monday October 19, 2009 in Iraq while serving and defending his country. Espinoza received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart posthumously.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1983 in San Juan, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduating from Mission High school in 2002.

During his service, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division based in Fort Hood, Texas.

On November 8, 2011, the City of Alton City Commission approved Resolution 2011-20 naming the baseball complex at Sylvia Vela Park after him. On Memorial Day, May 28, 2012, the City of Alton unveiled a monument dedicated to Espinoza who was killed almost three years ago.
