4th Annual Recycle Bowl Competition

Attention Alton Schools:

As we begin a new year, we gear ourselves up for another year of learning the importance of recycling and keeping our community environmentally friendly! The Alton Recycling Program strives to keep students engaged and interested in recycling through career days, presentation and also through educational competitions.  It is with great pleasure that we are announcing the start of our 4th Annual Recycle Bowl competition!

What is Recycle Bowl?

Each year, we challenge local schools to compete against each other to see which school recycles best!

Schools will be separated into two divisions. There will be a middle school division and an elementary division. The two schools that provide the most recyclables in their division will be declared the winners of Recycle Bowl IV. Also, the highest participating classroom from the winning schools will be awarded an additional prize.

What are the rules?

Competition will run from February 1st – May 4th 2018. All schools will have recyclables picked up on their regularly scheduled curbside collection day. All items must be sorted as cardboard, aluminum, paper, and shredded paper. All paper must be bagged. Do not mix garbage in with recyclable items. Non-recyclable garbage will not be counted towards the competition. The two highest participating classrooms from both winning schools will be awarded a pizza party from Pappa’s Pizza.

Thank you & Good Luck!
